Yes, yes, I know the comparison isn’t perfect for any number of reasons, but then again neither is the whole humans=virus thing, even beyond the obvious flaw in the logic.

Now that that’s out of the way, here’s something pertinent. Did you know that in the 17th century, the Roman Catholic Church classified the beaver as a fish? Apparently, this was meant to allow people to eat beaver meat on Fridays during Lent. Precedent lay in the brilliant Thomas Aquinas’  not-so-brilliant method of classifying animals, which lent equal weight to physical characteristics and to behavioral habits. Apparently Agent Smith was a fan of Aquinas. Who knew? Who cares?
