Recently I have been rereading Kengan Asura and Kengan Omega. It sets a pretty high bar for not-exactly-realistic martial art tournament manga. In Kengan Omega, the character Naoya Ohkubo, a mixed martial artist, comes to a tournament dressed as a clown. This was not the inspiration for today’s comic, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Good to know that the “buff clown” archetype is alive and well.
